The health & weightloss programs offered by Living Consciously provide much more than just an eating plan. The centre offers a wholistic approach that considers not only the physical aspects of the person but that also considers their emotional and psychological wellbeing. In addition we also take into account the clients lifestyle and support them to achieve optimal work/life balance. This is why our health programs are so successful in helping clients achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Most other weightloss programs fail because they do not address underlying factors such as body type, health issues, levels of stress and psychological factors that lead to unhealthy eating patterns and are the cause of obesity. The epidemic of obesity and associated health problems is alarming and by large is caused by poor dietary habits, stress and a sedentary lifestyle. Consequences of this includes diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, increased risk of cancer, low self esteem and depression. Trying to lose weight can also have negative consequences. Many diets on the market are nutritionally unbalanced and cannot be sustained long term. These diets make the body think it is starving which results in the body slowing down its metabolic rate resulting in weight increase. At Living Consciously our mind body approach seeks to address the many number of factors that contribute to being overweight by following a three step program: Step 1 We work with you to develop a healthy and nutritious eating program that is sensible, considers your body type and fits in with your lifestyle. Each week we review your eating program, and monitor your weight and blood pressure. Step 2. We assess your lifestyle and work with you to make adjustments to create balance. this may include; stress management training time management skills hypnosis exercise program - eg. walking, working out, a personal yoga program (there is a lot of scientific evidence that shows that yoga and meditation can facilitate weight loss (several studies are quoted below) Step 3 We work with the power of your mind by teaching you how to develop self awareness so you learn to be more conscious of factors that are contributing to you being overweight. You will learn to be mindful of when you are hungry, how much you eat, bad eating habits, unhelpful attitudes and behaviours. In other words unconscious factors that are unwittingly driving you to obesity become conscious. You will also become aware of the relationship you and your body has with food and body weight and you will improve this relationship. We will teach you how to work with the power of your mind to strengthen your resolve to make long lasting healthy food and lifestyle choices. Your Commitment This program requires a three month commitment. Seems a long time but its very short when you consider how many years you have been struggling with your weight.
